St. Peter’s Market, Cornmarket St

T. 021 427 3756

The grand old dame of the Corks Old town, and arguably the finest premises in Ireland

The Bodega at St. Peter’s Market is one of Ireland’s most beautiful bars, restaurant and nightclub, and truly is a sight to behold for all visitors to Cork.

An elegant venue for eating, drinking and dancing, it has timeless appeal and is housed in the same magnificent building that was once home to Leeside’s St. Peter’s food market – also known as Cork’s ‘Irish Market’ – along the city’s historic Coal Quay area.

Boasting works from artists including JB Yeats and Jim McCarthy, the Bodega’s chandeliers are spectacular enough to hang in the White House, while pewter bar counters and other one-off elements ensure an elegant and welcoming experience for all.

A portion of the premises was used as a munitions factory during the First World War and later became part of the Lee Hosiery textile factory.

While the term ‘Bodega’ actually means winery in Spanish, the venue has a authentic night club atmosphere by night and free passes to its famed Friday and Saturday night offerings are often available in other Pubs on the Heritage Trail – if you ask the bar tender nicely!

An ideal spot for lunch and an early evening snack, The Bodega has established itself as one of the best restaurants in Cork in recent years – cooking only the best of what local Cork producers and supplies have to offer.
